RUSSELL MORRIS - VAN DIEMEN'S LAND' CONCERT TOUR

Sample ImageAustralian wordsmiths have given life to folklore since Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson created some of our most enduing tales. In musical terms, Paul Kelly is one of the finest exponents of giving new life to Australian folklore. And that’s exactly what ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Russell Morris also plans to do when he performs his latest collection of folk tales at The Gov on Friday, August 22.

Selling Now: Deep South Roots, Blues and Folk festival over November 28, 29 and 30.

 Sample ImageAnd it's a biggie!!!!

Day 1 start with: Sheilas Sing the Blues.... Zkye, Gail Page and Carla Lippis

Day 2: Read the poster, I still couldn't be bothered typing it all out but the  Steve Brown Band is in there somewhere and that’s all that matters to me.

Day 3: Up close and personal - use a breath freshener for this one! Some of the poor people could take a bath or a shower maybe, if you can afford water.

Plus some great interstate fartists. Ha ha…  I know that is childish but I find I am going through a ‘stage’ at the moment and you’ll have to bear with me.

Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan were all invited to appear at Blues, Roots and Folk but they were busy and couldn't come. However, you can make sure you are there to not see these great artists .....

Favourite things

Sing: Curry and lager and prawns with big whiskers,
Friends and acquaintances with de-licious sisters,
Mangoes and mettwurst all tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Yes. And I am sure that some of my favourite things are perhaps the same things that many other people enjoy. Music. Eating. Drinking. Farting. Love farting – who doesn’t? I have been farting for a long time and I am pretty good at it. I can make a botty-burp ask a question…. with a little lift at the end; I can make one answer sadly with a little downturn at the end; I can do an evinrude outboard motor across a lake for about 8-10 seconds ‘pthpthphtpht’ etc; and I can do a string of pearls where you do a little parp with every step you take while walking.  Love it.
I also love boot-scooting around the joint with the shit-box (a device that plays mp3 files) plugged into my lugholes while singing and dancing to the groove.  Them little earbungs isolate you with the music right in your head and I get totally lost in the music and inspired to do all sorts of fancy gymnastics and dance steps while doing the cleaning or whatever. All of which is a segue to my Tip Of the Week.
When you have them earbungs in you lugs they block out the rest of the world … but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world isn’t happening. I was listening to Take Five by Dave Brubeck, swinging to the compound time and trying to fart on the 4 and 5 in the beat - in the queue at the newsagents.
They are still laughing at me whenever I go down to the shops. So I’m just sayin’….  Be aware.
