Go to GEEK POP QUIZ 2 and/or 3 with pan!c at La Boehme this Thursday June 18 or this Friday June 19.

Pop Music and questions - and some of them questions are a bit hard, if I do say so myself. I didn't know the answers to more than a few of them! But I'll bet you are more knowledgeable than I at this pop trivia stuff.

To join in the 'questionable' fun, go here to book:  http://www.trybooking.com/Booking/BookingEventSummary.aspx?eid=133682   or pay on the night (I think)

Sample ImageSweet Baby James and Rob Eyers at the Gilbert Street pub, Thursday June 25. Warm fires; tasty – no… ZINGY buffalo wings and other fine grub – cold beer and stuff like that and you get some of the warmest, grooviest rollin’ roots and blues music in town. Early start – 7pm – see you there.

Sample ImageBlues Avenue quartet at the Convention Centre Friday June 26. Don’t know whether you can attend, it’s probably a posh do and you may need a suit to attend but I’m just letting you know what sort or rarefied atmosphere the Blues Avenue Quartet flies in these days. You’ll probably need to wear socks with that suit if you want to crash the bash.

Lloyd Spiegel - blues monster

Lloyd Spiegel hits the city of Churches and perverts next week.

I just watched him on youtube - Ten fingers on his left hand and a voice that roars like a lion…. Well, it’s pretty mighty, and he’s handy on the geetar.   If you aren't familiar with Lloyd, take a minute to check out the blurb and youtube link below.

Sample ImageI now publish the supplied Blurb:

‘2015 sees acoustic blues phenomenon Lloyd Spiegel celebrate 25 years on the bandstand with the release of a new double live album and extensive national tour that includes two dates in Adelaide.
Recorded over two sold out shows at The Wonderland Spiegeltent this past March, the new “Double Live Set” is a 25 track anthology featuring Lloyd Spiegel at his absolute best. The release highlights Spiegel's huge voice, blazing finger-style guitar playing and the personality-fuelled songwriting that has seen him wow audiences around Australia and the world over the past two-and-a-half decades.
With 8 albums, a swag of accolades to his name and 25 years performing, writing and recording, Lloyd Spiegel has certainly squeezed more into 35 years than many do in a lifetime.  He is one seriously talented musician!’

He’s worth a look even if you only want a new standard to judge (yourself??) and other blues players by. Go here and cop a load of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7UyX5-30gQ&feature=youtu.be …   and you will see/hear what I mean!

Lloyd Spiegel (left) will be at Semaphore Workers Club - June 26th @ 8:00pm, and at the…

Wheatsheaf - June 27th @ 8:00pm

Ask the Grown-ups

Dear Grown-ups in the Front Seat,

My House got burgled the other night; this has happened before and I fear it may happen again. What can I do to prevent this?

Yours sincerely, Concerned citizen.

Dear concerned citizen,
We have experienced a similar problem with unwanted invaders and we, with our superior grown-up brains, have developed a marvellous solution. In applying this solution to your problem, we suggest you camp outside your house and, when the burglar approaches, you offer him $1000 to go away and leave your home and contents intact.
Yours in superiority,
The grown-ups in the Front Seat.

Dear Grown-ups in the Front seat,
Thank you for your great idea.  It is so excellent having you Grown-ups in the front seat. However, I wonder if you could continue to help me: having paid off the burglar the other night, he returned the following night and I had to give him another $1000. Then it starts to get tricky, as I write this he has returned yet again for another $1000 and behind him is a line of some 150 other burglars expecting the same deal. It looks like this might cost me a lot of money and I will have to stay in the front yard forever. I’m beginning to doubt that it was a good idea; can you suggest something else?
Yours sincerely
Concerned citizen

Dear suspicious-sounding citizen,
Piss off and stop annoying us, you whining oik. We Grown-ups gave you a pretty good solution to your problem and, at the time of our generous giving, who in the world could have predicted the outcome you are experiencing, eh??  You have had the free benefit – at no cost to you, that is – of our high-class brains and if it hasn’t worked out the way you wanted it to I suggest you go away and deal with this yourself but we also offer these cautionary words: 1) you appear to have money to throw away to these burglars – we have your meta-data and will be looking into your affairs to assess your access to such readily disposable income; 2) the money you are giving as ‘gifts/inducements’ is not tax-deductable for you; 3) you must by law supply the tax office with names, addresses and ABN’s of the people you are paying off, failure to do so will result in severe penalties. Now fuk off and don’t bother us, we have a similar ‘unexpected’ situation looming and need to appeal to Rupert the Wizard to cover it up a bit.
Your in absolute superiority because we said so,
The Grown-ups in the front seat.
