Sample Image

This weekend... Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11, pan!c will be holding punters hostage at the Daniel O'Connell Hotel, North Adelaide (Friday) and at Finn McCool's, Norwood, on Saturday. Pan!c funmeisters Michael Hill, Paul Garner and The Preacher Denis Surmon will be responsible for your entertainment pleasure - or pain - so put on your dancing shoes, your rocking socks and your twisting underwear. Live music kicks off at 9.00 pm at both venues. If your underwear is too twisty... don't wear any - we won't mind; just don't lift your kilt!

Sample ImageSA Roots and Blues Music Awards follow-up.... the winner is Tristan Andrews of Double Wammy for the Instrumentalist of the year for his performances on the Hammond Organ in the world-renowned Power Soul combo. The Preacher was a bridesmaid in the Bass Player of the Year category - boo hoo - but there is always next year!  Next year be fucked! If i get the drop on the guy that won, his fingers are pulp!

Sorry. That is bad sportsmanship and I know it. I won't do it again. I'm happy I didn't win. I truly am (with fingers crossed). Honestly (with little halo glinting).

Check out Double Wammy at the Semaphore Workers Club, Friday October 17. You will see Tristan Andrews in full flight, brandishing his Award, The Preacher sulking like a spoilt brat who's lost his lolly, Brian Morrisson punishing the naughty Gretsch guitar, making it cry and wail, and Maximum Intensity Rodda gently caressing the rhythmic thunder out of his ancient - but still servicable - drum kit.

Sample ImageBlues Avenue - the kings of juke joint stomp and swing - pulled off a blinder of a gig at the Grace Emily on Wednesday October  8. If you weren't there, too bad you missed it; the boys were cranked and the audience was rockin! Really, there were. They actually knew how to Rock and Jive. It was amazing and uplifting. Next outing for James and The Preacher with the Blues Avenue will be at The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Thebarton, Wednesday October 15.
