Have a Grouse time at Norwood Print E-mail
Tuesday, 17 February 2009

Sample ImageDespite what mother said, I don't believe it is possible to have too much fun. I do believe that if you have had "quite enough" fun you will probably spill your groceries on the footpath outside the pub, but that usually makes room in the tummy for a bit more fun. So - and this is drawing a long and somewhat tenuous bow - if you want to have just enough, or - an adequate sufficiency - of fun, get thee then to the Norwood Hotel on Friday February 20 and catch the Grouse. Rock sick or groove till your buns smoke. Jump and shout or behave yourself in a conservative manner, not wishing to draw attention to yourself, as long as you have your fill of fun. Live music starts at 9.00 pm-ish.

Other gigs to look forward to this month:

Sample ImageThursday February 19 catch John Schumann and his new Vagabonds at The Gov for a busfire victim's fundraiser. The crew for the gig is expected to be the same lineup that recently raised the dust at the Boyup Brook Vietnam veterans festival in WA and is itching for another fight! And Shooey is in fine voice and a sharp as an Idol judge's tongue. Hmmm... I wonder if that's good or bad. Anyway...  .See newspapers for details and ticket sales to the event.

Sample ImageFriday February 27 will have those bright sparks of Power Soul Double Whammy rocking the Wheatie. Brian Morrison on blistrering guitar and vocals, Tristan Andrews on the throbbing, wailing Hammond Organ, The Preacher (there's that name again) on electric basses and vocals,  and none other than the man himself, the rock dog for dyslexic cork hades, Craig Maximum Intensity Rodda on the noisy things that you hit. Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Double Wammy at the Wheatsheaf Hotel Thebarton on Friday February 27, 2009.  All future opportunites on other dates and venues are not covered by this statement.

Sample ImageSaturday February 28, Walk The Line - Australia's Number One Johnny Cash Show - will be playing the Parafield Community Centre. This will be a mighty fine evening of country entertainment with a preview of Amber Joy Poulton's Honky Tonk Angels - a new cabaret musical about the life of Loretta Lynn - opening the show. Amber was selected as a Top 10 Finalist in Tamworths’ world famous Toyota Starmaker competition and is gifted singer and fine interpreter of the music of Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton. Then the evening gets into a higher gear with the Walk The Line Band cranking out an authentic tribute to the music and myth of Johnny Cash. Amber Joy joins the band onstage for a rousing set of June Carter and Johnny Cash duets. Put this one in the book or you'll be cryin' in yer beer!
