Toora-feckin'-loora, it's St Paddy's birthday again! Have you bought him a present? No? I thought as much. Luckily for you, his birthday party, being held today at the Daniel O'Connell hotel in North Adelaide on his birthday (or sumtink) Tuesday March 17 - to which you are formally in-feckin'-vited - will allow you the opportunity to get him a gift while you are there. St Paddy likes a drop of the Guinness and the pan!c band, who will be playing in honour of the old bible-bashing boa-banisher, has been charged with the onerous task of delivering the gifted Guinness to St Paddy, who now lives in the dunny plumbing under the pub. True! And I know it sounds like a slightly complicated business but all you need to do is give the Guinness to the pan!c lads who are more than up to the task of passing the stuff on to the silly old celt. After they filter it through their feckin' kidneys, a-corse! Toora-feckin'-loora! Stick a shelalegh up me arse and call me Shamrock! So, see you there. At the Daniel O'Connell Hotel, St Paddy's Day. The party goes all day but it don't start rocking till pan!c hits the stage.
For those who missed out on the almost overwhelming Variety Club Music Marathon held on Sunday March 15 and wonderfully promoted in this very website, well.... you feckin' missed out! Hoy Hoy, Double Wammy, Amber Poulton, Rhumboogie, Chris Finnen, the Harmonics, Sweet Baby James and Rob Eyers... people will be talking about it till... well, till St Paddy's feckin' Day, at the very feckin' least! Speaking of Fecks... Thusday night at the Kentish Arms (yes.... I said 'Kent'-ish Arms, not what you were thinking) John feckin' Schumann will begin a series of concerts to try to put an end to boring Thursday nights. For a little while, anyway.
According to the press release: after requests from Adelaide fans, John and Kat Kraus from the Vagabond Crew along with their mates from Adelaide band Acoustic Juice including The Preacher on bass will be playing a short season of intimate shows at the Kentish Arms in Stanley Street, North Adelaide. "Intimate"... feck off! I know what feckin' "intimate" means. Last time I was "intimate" with someone I got a cold sore I couldn't get rid of. Intimate my feckin' arse. But I'm not going to tell you any more about that evening. No way! I'm going to tell you more about what John Schumann telled me. “We had a great time when we did a bushfire fundraiser at the Gov a few weeks ago," Shooey said, "So, we thought, we can either have one more boring Thursday night in Adelaide at home – or we can play again.”
“We’ve chosen the Kentish because it’s close, street car parking is pretty good, the venue is light and airy and can seat about 150 comfortably. We start playing about 8.30 and finish around 10.30. Songs from Redgum, Etched in Blue, Lawson and Behind the Lines,” John said. “And why are we doing this?" he asks (you're supposed to put a slighly inquisitive expression on your face now). "Because we like playing together. That’s reason enough."(Now nod your feckin' maggot-bowl; you've been told why and it all seems so fecking obvious, don't it!) "Anyway," Shooey said, "...what else would we do on a Thursday night?” Don't answer that! But it will feckin' cost yer. It's $25 at the door. Or you can ring the Kentish and they’ll take a booking over the phone. But make sure you feckin' turn up if you make a booking, all right? Or I'll feckin' nut yer!
