AMBER JOY POULTON PRESENTS...
Honky Tonk Angels
A Cabaret Festival Fringe country music feast!
Loretta Lynn - played by country queen Amber Joy Poulton (photo right) - comes to town for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival Fringe for two performances at the Promethean (Grote Street). Honky Tonk Angels tells the life story of Loretta Lynn, taking the audience on a journey from the rural simplicity of a naive teenage mother singing country tunes in Butcher Hollow to the glitz and glam of the Honky Tonk Angels, the heavenly vocal trio Loretta formed with Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton.
In Honky Tonk Angels Amber Joy performs some of her favourite country music and relates stories from the life and times of one of country music's most loved performers and her friends.
As well as a string of knee-slappin' country mega-hits, from hill-billy to city-slick, Honky Tonk Angels pays tribute to this remarkable woman - her friendships, her contribution to music and how she helped the progression of women...in the country as well as the city. You will not be able to sit still as Amber Joy performs some of country music's greatest hits, live on stage, rocked along by her electrifying backing band, The HellRaisers.
Honky Tonk Angels features Amber Joy Poulton as Loretta Lynn - Amber was a 2009 Tamworth Starmaker Grand-finalist. The HellRaisers are Anthony (The Vicar) Thyer on guitars, denis (The Preacher) Surmon on Bass and vocals, Greg (The Reverend) Blanch on pedal steel guitar and Billy (el Diabolo) Reggione on drums.
