Look at the time – it’s October already and I still haven’t made my New Years’ resolutions. Which is a bit crook considering one of them was to stop procrastinating. Well, I’ll just have to put it off till next year. Meanwhile – I’ll do this in a hurry as time is getting away.
Long weekend agenda: Saturday October 3 you will travel over to the Norwood Hotel for a 9.00 pm start with the Sidecutters 3 – piece. That’s Hilly, Boundy and the Preacher-y.This will be pretty much a rock out with your gender-identifying dangly bits out with the focus on the dangly bits.
Sunday, October 4…. Late breakfast but an early afternoon getaway for those headed south to Mick O’Shea’s at Hackham West for an afternoon session (2 pm to 6 pm) with the Sidecutters 2-piece, Hilly and the Preachery. Yes, yes, they get around like farts in a Tarago.
For those headed for the ozone areas – the beach - the Semaphore Music Festival is on and so is Amber Joy Poulton who is ‘on’ like a freckle on a gingernut’s nose; and she is on at the foreshore around 3 pm. Amber Joy (photo left) will be belting out some ripping tunes from her new CD and that’s about all I can say because I won’t be there. I’m sure Rhodesey (of the David variety) will cover my arse with the bass parts of the stuff but, he is left handed so all the notes will be going the wrong way. Can’t be fukken helped, though.

Continuing…. if you’ve lost your car keys or are a bit too confused to drive home at the end of all that, get yourself along to the Semaphore RSL that evening for a special treat when Amber Joy - yes, her again - it will be double Amber Joy (sounds like number 121 on a Chinese restaurant menu) when ‘Honky Tonk Angels – The Loretta Lynn Story’ hits the stage. Honky Tonk Angels tells the whole story of every period of Loretta’s life including the stuff she did after her menopause when she didn’t have any periods at all. And if you think that’s a bit disgusting you should see what got edited out - that would have made the wax pop out of your fukken ears.
Monday is a rest day. You will be on your own time but we expect you to retire early for a return to usual routines on Tuesday. On your marks; get set… Go!! Diary Ramblings:Walking The Line – Australia’s Number One Johnny Cash Show Band had the enormous pleasure of performing at Harvey Dickson’s Country Music Show in Boyup Brook (WA) last weekend. The crowd rocked from the first song and the old tin shed nearly burst its seams. When I say ‘tin shed’, the indoor venue seats hundreds, with a separate drinks bar and food bar and spills out onto an enclosed smoking area – lit with wood fires. The stage is rigged out with almost overkill lighting trusses and a thumping sound system that would make it hard not to turn in your best performance. We want to go back to Boyup Brook. Thank you Harvey, Richard, Rose, Richard and Roma, Lizard and Pam. Sadly, the feature band – the Fuqqen Fucquers - were stuck in Collie because the singer had his hat on back to front and we got to do a longer show. So a big thank you to the Fuqqen Fucquers from all of us. Here’s a few snaps from Boyup Brook. You know you're at Harvey Dickson's when you see the Boyup Brook Guitar playing mega-men: And a few snaps that band boys will appreciate. The band rider (photo right): The soutdoor (Rock Arena) stage:
